Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Loch Tollaidh. The misty island in Loch Tollie is often said to be a crannog, and is marked as such on the OS map. Dixon's Gairloch and Guide to Loch Maree even goes so far as to say "it was once a fortalice of the MacBeaths, and subsequently of the M'Leods". The same information appears in David Alston's Ross and Cromarty - A Historical Guide. There is, according to the Loch Ewe Heritage Group, no evidence that this island was a crannog, so this description comes into the category of popular local myth.
