Summary[edit]
DescriptionLisburn signal cabin - last night (geograph 3605037).jpg |
English: Lisburn signal cabin - last night Built by the Great Northern Railway (Ireland) and thought to date from the early years of the 20th Century, Lisburn signal cabin was unusual in having two offsets at the Dublin end. Also, the original steps were sited where the bush is growing, but were moved in the last years of the Ulster Transport Authority. With the extension of centralised colour-light signalling, Lisburn cabin closed after the last train on 21 September 1984, the remaining manually controlled GNR(I) signals being pulled-down the following day. In an act of unnecessary vandalism, Northern Ireland Railways removed and scrapped the manual signal levers. However, the cabin, a listed building, still stands buts is now used as an office. |
