Location: Queensland, Australia
Description: Jubilee train was part of the Commonwealth celebrations of 1951. A model of a children's library was established on the Jubilee Art Train. 'The purpose of the children's library was to stimulate interest in and demonstrate the desirability of free municipal libraries in every community. The train began its tour of Queensland on the 27th March, 1951, and, after showing for a week in Brisbane, made its way northwards along the coastal lines to Cairns and Atherton, then proceeded westward to Mount Isa and Cloncurry, along the Central Line via Longreach and Emerald in Brisbane, and is at present on its south-western tour.( Information taken form Sixth Report of the Library Board of Queensland).
