Saturday.

23 Tedworth Square, S.W.

Dear Miss Hayward:

Perhaps I could be interviewed a little — just a little — for the St. Louis Republic, but not for an English paper, because I have declined them all, including the Pall Mall, & must not stultify myself now.

And I should want to see your list of questions first, so that I could strike out some & confine you to the rest.

But I don't know how in the world to make an appointment! We are in a hurly-burly getting ready for the continent, and shall start in a week if Mrs. Clemens is well enough to travel then.

I am almost always at home at 12 noon, but out the rest of the time on errands. Noon is not sure, but is nearer to it than any other hour. So if you want to take the risk, try any noon after Monday. I wish I could be more definite, but am too busy.

Sincerely Yours

S.L. Clemens
