Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Lepidium davisii long term monitoring by the BLM on a playa in SW Idaho. Kali tragus- an invasive annual weed threatens these rare plant populations mainly by smothering them and also changing the mineral clay soils through deposition of organic material. Though the extremely fine clay soil is difficult even for Kali tragus to grow on, the playas are slightly lower than the surrounding land and can build up weedy debris deposited by the winds- especially when the surrounding land has been wiped clean of shrubs because of wildfires.
