Lead curse tablets, Nemea, 3rd century BC

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Two lead curse tablets found rolled up an pierced (by a nail?) in the Heroon of Opheltes. 3rd century BC. Archaeological Museum of Nemea, IL 367, IL 372, Case 4.

Several other similar tablets were also found here. All appear to date to the 3rd century BC and all have similar curses on them whereby an anonymous author is trying to avert to affections of a lady to another man. One example can cited as typical:

"I am turning Euboula away from Aineas, away from his face, away from his eyes, away from his mouth, away from his breast, away from his soul, away from his stomach, away from his penis, away from his anus, away from all of his body. I am turning Euboula away from Aineas."
Čeština: Olověné pásky s napsanými kletbami, nalezené v Ofeltově svanyni, 3. století před n. l. Byly srolované a propíchnuté, asi hřebíkem.
