Photo d'archive de W.Gropius, A. Aalto et C. Matarazzo dans le pavillon du Brésil, biennale d'architecture 2014, Venise

Cette photo d'archive de W. Gropius, l'architecte allemand fondateur du Bauhaus, a été prise à l'ouverture de la 2ème Biennale d'art de Sao Paulo en 1953 où il a reçu le prix spécial du jury dans la section architecture.

Walter Gropius (à droite, avec le noeud papillon) est face à l'architecte finlandais Alvar Aalto (à gauche, regardant Gropius) ils sont en compagnie de l'homme d'affaires et mécène brésilien Ciccillo Matarazzo, à l'origine de la Biennale.

Pour illustrer le thème "Absorbing modernity 1914-2014" de la biennale internationale d'architecture de Venise de 2014, le Pavillon du Brésil présente une évolution chronologique de l'architecture de son pays, qui se caractérise par une relation intime à la modernité.

Des maquettes , des documents et des photos de 180 bâtiments remarquables constituent l'exposition du pavillon du Brésil, complétée par un catalogue complet sur ce thème.
