Title
Le kiosque des diamants de la couronne, dans la galerie d'Iéna.
Description
Iéna gallery in the Palais du Champ-de-Mars, during the 1878 Paris World Fair. The Iéna gallery was one of the main exhibition halls in the 1878 Paris World Fair. The print represents the French Crown's diamonds. At the time of the Fair, France was under a Republican regime; but its president was the Maréchal Mac Mahon, who had close ties with the royalist political circles. The crown's diamonds were one of the many attractions in the Palais du Champ-de-Mars. The Palais was facing the Trocadéro, and was located on the site where the Eiffel Tower is now standing.
