Ce bassin appelé Naga Pokhari est proche du temple de Taleju Bhawani dans le palais royal de Bhaktapur Ce bassin date du XVIIème siècle, il est utilisé pour l'immersion rituelle de la statue de la déesse Taleju Bhawari. Il est entouré de serpents Naga. Dans l'hindouisme, le Naga est un génie des eaux. Il s'oppose à Garuda, l'aigle monture de Vishnou. Taleju Bhawani, est une forme de la déesse hindoue Durga, elle était la divinité tutélaire des rois Malla. Le temple de Taleju Bhawani est à proximité du bassin, dans la cour principale et la plus ancienne du Palais, le Mul Chowk. Ce temple sacré, interdit aux européens, a été construit en 1533.
