Summary
[edit]DescriptionLarge Cycladic female figurine 2800-2300 BC, MCA 257, 190544.jpg |
English: Large Cycladic idol, female figurine of the canonical type, Spedos variety, marble, some of Koufonisia, EC II, 2800-2300 BC. Goulandris Foundation Museum of Cycladic Art, Athens, no. 257. "Copenhagen Master".
The short stocky legs in relation to the trunk have no knees and end rudimentary feet. In all probability the legs had broken at the level of knees, where the artist carved the toes. The figurine is one of the rare examples of remodelling in Cycladic art (see also case 21, Col. no. 330).
Čeština: Velký kykladský idol, ženská postava kanonického typu, varieta Spedos, mramor, asi z Koufonisi, EC II, 2800-2300 před n. l. Goulandrisovo Muzeum kykladského umění v Athénách, č. 257. „Copenhagen Master“.
