Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Langdon House is wood frame house built in the "Steamboat Gothic" style with vertical boards and batten siding, located in the neigborhood of Columbia-Tusculum in Cincinnati. The house, built in 1855, is named after Dr. Henry Archer Langdon whose family owned it from 1865 to 1955. Dr. Langdon was a prominent Cincinnati physician who served in the Civil war as a surgeon in the 79th Ohio Volunteer Infantry for three years until the end of the war in 1865. Following the war, Dr. Langdon returned to Columbia, bought this house from his mentor and partner Dr. Wesley Elstun, and practiced medicine at this address until his death in 1876. In 1969, the Langdon house became Cincinnati’s first private residence to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places due to its noteworthy architectural style.
