Summary[edit]

Description

Lactarius pseudomucidus Hesler & A.H. Sm.

Image location: Jackson Demonstration State Forest, Mendocino Co., California, USA

These had viscid caps up to 4.9 cm across. The stems also seemed somewhat viscid. The gills were rather thin and the spore print was white.

The spores did not seem amyloid in I/Ki solution so I was surprised to see heavily warted spores that were at least partially amyloid in time.

Spores were subglobose and ~ 7.6-8.2 7.0-7.9 microns. The relatively thin flesh was also grayish. Not sure where these fit…?
