English: In the Lyddane–Sachs–Teller (LST) relation one considers the static and high-frequency dielectric constants, as well as the energies of the LO and TO phonons at gamma in the phonon disperion relation of a material. This image illustrates clearly these phonon energies for the example of GaAs, which allows one to better comprehend the LST relation.
