Description
English: Title: La polenta

Abstract: Italian political cartoon shows an interior view of a kitchen with a large cauldron of soup labeled "Asia" at center; leaning over the pot are two men, on the left a Russian man is leaning on a large ladle labeled "Vittoria", he asks an Englishman standing opposite if he likes this oriental soup. The Englishman, pointing to the soup and at the Russian, tells him no, that he can eat it all. The Russian replies that he is going to share it with his "children", perhaps seasoned with British roastbeef. On the left, standing behind the Russian, are three children labeled "Rumenia", "Greco", and "Monte[negro]". An Austrian man is walking away with a pan of soup labeled "Note", and an Italian man, possibly crying, standing outside an open window, is holding a paper labeled "Tirolo", "Istria", and "Malta". Otto von Bismarck, dressed as a chef, is standing on the right, holding a box labeled "Politica", standing next to him, at an entrance to the room, is a boy labeled "Serbo".
