It comprises 72 color plates showcasing diverse plant motifs. Each of the 24 depicted plant species includes a botanical illustration, followed by two ornamental interpretations. The book was a collaborative effort of Grasset's students, which included notable illustrators such as Maurice Pillard Verneuil, Juliette Milesi, Emma Hervegh, and others.
  • Author: Eugène-Samuel Grasset (1845-1917), a Swiss decorative artist who worked in Paris, France in a variety of creative design fields during the Belle Époque. He is considered a pioneer in Art Nouveau design.

Verneuil studied and developed his style from Eugène Grasset, a Franco-Swiss pioneer of Art Nouveau design. Inspired by Japanese art, nature and particularly the sea, he is known for his contributions to the Art Deco movement through the use of bold floral designs on ceramic tiles, wallpapers, textiles, and posters.
