Summary[edit]

Description
English: Caricature alluding to the diplomatic crisis caused by the Ems Telegram, in which the Prussian Chancellor Otto von Bismarck is shown using a telegraph cable to throw a top with the features of the Spanish Prime Minister Juan Prim and entangle the French Emperor Napoleon III in it. The illustration suggests a subordination of Prim to the interests of Bismarck, in this case provoking France to declare war on Prussia, as happened two days after the publication of the cartoon.
