Description
Español: La Caridad romana, boceto al óleo de Murillo para un cuadro del mismo título que quedó destruido en el incendio de la Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts (Estados Unidos) en 1845.

El cuadro había pertenecido a la colección de Manuel Godoy. Tras producirse la invasión napoleónica de España y la toma de Madrid, el grabador que lo tenía en su poder para hacer un grabado, Tomás López Enguídanos, huyó a Valencia llevándose el cuadro con él, aunque al final hubo de venderlo por motivos económicos. Fue comprado y llevado a Estados Unidos, y antes de 1814 ya se encontraba en la Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts, donde ardió en un incendio en 1845.

Al parecer, fue el primer cuadro de Murillo en llegar a Estados Unidos.

The painting belonged to the Manuel Godoy collection. After the Napoleonic invasion of Spain, the engraver who had it in order to make an engraving, Tomás López Enguídanos, fled to Valencia taking the painting with him, meaning to save it from the clutches of Joseph Bonaparte, although in the end he had to sell it for economic reasons. It was bought and brought it to the United States, and it was already at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts before 1814. There, it get destroyed in a fire in 1845.

Apparently, it was the first painting of Murillo to arrive in the United States.
