English: A U.S. Navy Ling-Temco-Vought A-7E Corsair II (BuNo 160873) of Attack Squadron 72 (VA-72) banks to the left while en route to its target during Operation Desert Storm, 1 February 1991. The aircraft is carrying six Mark 20 Rockeye II cluster bombs on its outboard wing pylons and an AIM-9L Sidewinder missile on each of its fuselage pylons. VA-72 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 3 (CVW-3) aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) for a deployment to the 1990-1991 Gulf War from 15 August 1990 to 28 March 1991. Following this deployment, VA-72 was disestablihed on 30 June 1991. |
