Summary[edit]

Description
English: The U.S. Navy tank landing ship LST-340 burning after being hit by a Japanese bomb during the Japanese air raid on Guadalcanal, 16 June 1943. LST-340 was run ashore off Lunga Beach after being hit, and her fires extinguished after doing considerable damage to her and to her cargo. Another LST is visible here, assisting with firefighting.
