Description
English: LCpl McGuigan a medic from 204 Field Hospital deployed as part of the 1 R IRISH led Long Range Reconnaissance Group in Mali. This image shows a medic from the LRRG(M) on patrol, during a recent operation near Gao in Mali, interacting the local people. One of the roles of the LRRG(M) is to interact with the local population of Mali, to provide security but also to find out and understand the key issues affecting them. This information is then fed back into the UN to enable resources to be efficiently allocated to help those in need where possible. The key to this is conversation, LCpl McGuigan was part of an engagement patrol interacting with local Malians. **Background blurred so as not to identify local children**
