Summary[edit]

Description LOT 3029-12 (1544): Russian Intervention, 1918-20. Newspaperman Aids Red Cross. Charles S. Smith, Constantinople correspondent of the Associated Press, aboard the armed merchantman SS Navajo, which the American Red Cross used to bring nearly a thousand Russian refugees from Odessa to Constantinople (now Istanbul). Mr. Smith was of the greatest assistance to the Red Cross in loading these refugees. American Red Cross Photograph. Photograph received June 1920. (5/29/2015).
