Description

Stamp of the Principality of Liechtenstein; 1977; commemorative stamp of the issue "Castles"; stamp drawing with the Castle of Liechtenstein at Maria Enzersdorf, near Mödling in Lower Austria; mint stamp
Note: The Castle of Liechtenstein at Maria Enzersdorf in Lower Austria was built in 1820/21 in the style of the classicism. It was in the time 1836 to the end of the 1950s possession of the Princely family von und zu Liechtenstein. It served as detention centre for refugies from Hungary in 1956 and after. Because of heavy damagings in this time, this castle was sold end of the 1950s by the Princely family of Liechtenstein to the state of Austria. Contemporary (2018), this castle is a senior residence and houses a theater.
