Title |
LEIC-7CAB26: Unidentified copper alloy object of uncertain date |
||
Description |
English: Unidentified copper alloy object of uncertain date, possibly part of a ball-and-socket joint, or part of another kind of fitting, possibly Medieval. Alternatively it could be an unusual pin head of Roman date. It resembles a Roman ear-scoop but is not quite the right shape, the walls being too thick. It also has some similarities with objects identified as modern seed drill scoops, but as this object has a rough, pitted surface it is probably older.
The object is D-shaped in section, teardrop shaped in plan, with a hollow inside like the bowl of a tiny spoon. At one end it appears that it was once attached to a shaft. It is 20mm long, 12mm wide, 9mm thick and weighs 5.15g. |
