Description LC-USZC2-1753: Attack of the gun boats upon Veracruz, Mexico, and Castle of San Juan de Ulloa, March 1847. Print shows the bombardment by American warships under the command of Josiah Tattnall. Ships and commanding officers are identified as: “Falcon, Lieutenant Glasson; Reefen, Lieutenant Sterett; Vix, Commander Sands; Petrel, Lieutenant Shaw; Bonita, Lieutenant Benham; Spitfire, Commander Tattnall; and Tampico, Lieutenant Griffin.
