- Description: Cover artwork for the wikibooks-Projekt Lehrbuch der Biochemie (Biochemistry). The protein in the center is the green fluorescent protein. At the left appears the chemical structure of the chromophore, marked red in the protein. beta-sheets are green, alpha-helices yellow. At the bottom right one can see protoplasts from the phytopathogen Fusarium culmorum, transfected with GFP.
- Source: Self-made. The protein part was created with the program RasMol (which is public domain) and structure data was obtained from the Protein Data Bank archive copy at the Wayback Machine (H.M. Berman, J. Westbrook, Z. Feng, G. Gilliland, T.N. Bhat, H. Weissig, I.N. Shindyalov, P.E. Bourne: The Protein Data Bank Nucleic Acids Research 2000 28 pp. 235-242.). The microscopy part was photographed by myself at the Biozentrum Klein Flottbek, Hamburg in the department "Molekularbiologie pathogener Pilze" and it was kindly permitted to be licensed under GFDL by Dr. Frank Maier.
