Image extracted from page 309 of Cyprus: its history, its present resources and future prospects. With two illustrations and four maps, by LANG, Robert Hamilton. Original held and digitised by the British Library. Copied from Flickr. On page 309 it says: "Pentadacktylon, or the Five Fingers, from its resemblance to the half-closed fist, with the thumb distended. The next is Mount Buffavento, 3,200 feet above the level of the sea. On the summit of the next is the ruin of an old castle, and close" - there follows this picture - "to it the 100 chambers cut out of the rock." Note: The colours, contrast and appearance of these illustrations are unlikely to be true to life. They are derived from scanned images that have been enhanced for machine interpretation and have been altered from their originals.
