Title
L'exposition vue de différents quartiers de Paris
Description
This print combines different views of the fair from various neighborhoods in Paris. The image at the top represents the Place de la Concorde, and the one under it is a view from Puteaux (a district on the western outskirts of Paris). The third view is taken from the Montmartre hills, and the two round-shaped inserts at the bottom of it are views from the Invalides (left) and from the rue Soufflot (right). Finally, the two images at the bottom of the page represent the Eiffel Tower as it could be seen from the Place du Carousel near the Louvre (left), and from the Pont-neuf (right). Even though the title of the print claims that it shows views of the fair, the main subject of the cityscapes here is obviously the Eiffel Tower, whose height and novelty fascinated Parisians and visitors alike.
