Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Boat race in Miðvágur in the Faroe Islands at the annual Vestanstevna village festival. The three larger villages in Vágar island are hosts every third year. The other villages are Sørvágur and Sandavágur. There are several boat races around the islands every summer, the final one is at the Olavsoka (Ólavsøka) festival in Tórshavn on 28 July. These two boats are Klaksvíkingur from Klaksvík and Vestmenningur from Vestmanna. They are the largest boats which participate in these kind of boat races (kappróður in Faroese), so-called 10-mannafør. Klaksvíkingur is the boat to the left, it won this race and all the other races so far in 2011, that is five races and two more to go. The winner gets 7 points, number two gets 6 points and so on. The boat which has got most points after the final boat race in Tórshavn wins the Faroese Championship. There were only three boats in this race, the smaller boats which are called 5-mannafar / 5-mannafør are more popular. 10-mannafør are rowing 2000 meters, 8-mannafør are rowing 1500 meters and the smaller boats are rowing 1000 meters, the children are also rowing, their distance is 500 meters.
Føroyskt: Kappróður á Vestanstevnu í Miðvági 9. juli 2011. Klaksvíkingur og Vestmenningur rógva kapp í róðrinum hjá 10-mannaførunum. Ein annar bátur, Hoyvíkingur, róði eisini, men sæst ikki á myndini.
