Summary[edit]

Description
English: Kittiwakes hunting fish in front of the Monaco glacier, Liefdefjord, Spitsbergen (Norway). In summer, water from the melting ice is flowing underneath the glacier and carries a plethora of nutrients to the fjord. This is a suitable habitat for marine microorganisms and fish to grow. For the birds this area, therefore, is an ideal hunting ground.
