New Pedestrianism: Kisima Kaya, a proposed, pedestrian-oriented eco-village in Kenya, by urban designer Michael E. Arth.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: A plan by urban designer Michael E. Arth for an eco-village in Kenya that would be modeled on his New Pedestrianism. Streets for cars are in the rear. Lanes for pedestrians and cyclists are at the front. The streets converge on a higher density village center. In this model, satellite villages are shown on the periphery. Eco-villages like this are being proposed as part of Arth's Eco-Initiative, a plan to solve Africa's multiple problems related to economics, inequality, poverty, population, health, and governance. The eco would also refer to a pan-African currency backed by the rich countries. For more information visit michaelarth.org.
