Title
English: King County Hospital exterior, Seattle, circa 1915
Description
English:

In 1893-1894, King County built a hospital at the County Poor Farm in Georgetown on the Duwamish River. This replaced an earlier, remodeled farmhouse building operated as an almshouse by the Sisters of Providence. At this new facility, doctors and nurses cared for those sick and injured county residents who could not afford to pay. By 1915, the hospital had expanded into a new brick addition. This image shows the King County Hospital at about that time. The hospital remained at this site until the opening of Harborview Hospital in 1931, at which point the Georgetown facility became King County Hospital Unit 2. Convalescent patients were housed at the older hospital until it was sold in 1956 and demolished.
