Description
English: Rewiring diagram of Khrushchev-era house.
  • Little overwiev: we have here living house with 48 apartments, which was built in 1960's. Electrical installation is existing, but it is ~50 years old - lot of aluminium wires are broken or burned (lighting is missing in many places); also in 1960's wiring were designed to handle only 5-6 Amps per apartment, but nowadays homeowners are using powerful washing machines, kettles and other homeappliences, so thick aluminium wires can't handle such powerful loads. Sometimes homeowners replace main fuse from 6A to 20A, but fire is question of time.

Solutions:

  • Main fuses are already existing, but they have only old rusty sockets, so they need to be replaced by more safe disconnector (I chose XLP1 disconnector).
  • Main panel is also existing, so here we will save too much money by using it as new panel. Imagine how much will cost new fuse box with the same dimensions =) But here we will install 4 rows of DIN rail into old fuse box and attach new circuit breakers to old panel. But before work we should clear old fuse box from rust/old paint and repaint (of course by paint for metal surfaces) it to look like new.
  • Main panel has 3 doors: one section with main fuses, one section with storey breakers and one section with public breakers. We're gonna to save the same, as it was. Only thing, I put busbars to distribute energy between sections instead of bits of wires. And of course busbars should be covered by certified dielectric material to supply normal entree for safe work with fuse disconnector and sections.
  • As for power supply, there is used existing line, cause it is Y with neutral wire and main fuse is the same 3x250A, but it will be replaced from corrosed ППН-2_250 to modern gG_250 =)
  • As for earthing, here we have neutral wire, which will be PEN wire - our purpose is divide PEN to ground and neutral wire in main panel, setting the repeated ground and making equipotential bonding.
  • For lighting circuits here are used automation solutions, which save energy while sun is shining or nobody uses the stairs.
  • As for materials, here is used ABB, cause wires for subpanels are 25mm² (3AWG), so I need circuit breakers which terminals are able to fit such fat wires and ABB breakers can fit 35mm² (2AWG) wires. Also, fuse disconnector has perfect dimensions to be fitted in old section.
