English: Germanic grave goods from the horreum cemetery of Keszthely-Fenékpuszta
  • Zala County, Hungary

To the east of the horreum, probably in the vicinity of a wooden church, a total of 36 body graves have been dug up. Most of the burials were largely without grave goods, but seven were richly endowed.

The goods are Byzantine or Byzantine-influenced products. They are counted among the most outstanding commodities of 6th-century Pannonia.

Grave 15 (front of case)
Extended supine burial of a child with coffin vestiges and stone packing.

1. Multipartite set of 'Fönlak type' belt fittings of pressed silver-gilt sheet metal: buckle with firm clasp plate, main strap end, seven ancillary strap ends, six shield-shaped clasps and two double-shield-shaped clasps.
2. Glass goblet with base.

Grave 16 (plinth, rear of case)
Extended supine burial of a man with coffin vestiges and stone packing.

1. Multipartite set of silver belt fittings: buckle with firm plate, with dentil ornament, one main strap, two ancillary strap ends, two shield-shaped clasps and two double-shield-shaped clasps.
2. Gold button with greenish glass inlay.
3. Finger ring (silver) with rectangular top plate with fish portrayals.

Östlich des Horreums, wahrscheinlich im Bereich einer Holzkirche, wurden insgesamt 36 Körpergräber ergraben. Die meisten Bestattungen waren größtenteils beigabenlos, sieben Gräber hingegen sehr reich ausgestattet.

Die Beigaben sind byzantinische bzw. byzantinisch beeinflusste Produkte. Sie zählen zu den herausragendsten Erzeugnissen des 6. Jahrhunderts in Pannonien.

Grab 15 (vorne)
Bestattung eines Kindes in gestreckter Rückenlage, mit Sargspuren und Steinpackung.

1. Vielteilige Gürtelgarnitur aus gepresstem silbervergoldeten Blech von 'Typ Fönlak': Schnalle mit fester Beschlagplatte, Hauptriemenzunge, sieben Nebenriemenzungen, sechs schildförmige und zwei doppelschildförmige Beschläge.
2. Glasbecher mit Standfuss.

Grab 16 (Sockel, hinten)
Bestattung eines Mannes in gestreckter Rückenlage, mit Sargspuren und Steinpackung.

1. Vielteilige Gürtelgarnitur aus Silber: Schnalle mit festem Beschlag, zahnschnittverziert, eine Hauptriemenzunge, zwei Nebenriemenzungen, zwei schildförmige und zwei doppelschildförmige Beschläge.
2. Goldknopf mit grünlicher Glaseinlage.
3. Fingerring (Silber) mit rechteckiger Schildplatte, darauf Fischdarstellungen.
