Summary[edit]

Description

8 October 2014. Shortly after 9am I walked from South Tottenham Station to the corner of Lealand Road. I saw a variety of rubbish bags. On street corners, next to litter bins, nudging against post boxes and several lampposts.

Perhaps some of this stuff was "official" - put out legitimately and awaiting collection by Veolia. (Or other private contractors paid by local businesses?) But surely not all of it?

But even if it's the leave-it-out-pile-it-up system used in some Haringey roads, it can still makes our borough look cruddy. Worse if attracts more rubbish.

"Among the cleanest in London"?

This part of High Road Tottenham is in Seven Sisters ward, which elects Claire Kober, Haringey Council's Dear Leader as one of its councillors. In the local election in May 2014 Claire's vapid Election Manifesto claimed that: "Our streets are now among the cleanest in London."

So I walked a little further around nearby residential roads to see how clean they were. And to spot pigs' nests.
