Deutsch: Ca. 125m lange Kalktuffterrasse (syn. Kalksinterterrasse) am Albtrauf in der Nähe des Uracher Wasserfalls.
Nach einer Schichtquelle im „seichten Karst" der Schicht „Untere Felsenkalke (Kimmeridgium, ki2)" wachsen auf alten Kalktuff-Moosmatten frische Moospolster heran. Die Moos-Assimilation aus dem Karstwasser steigert die Ablagerung von calciumcarbonat enorm (durch Ausfällung). English: Ca. 125m long terrace of „Calcereous Tuff" (similar: Travertine terrace) at the Albtrauf near Bad Urach, southern Germany. Water percolates from behind a spring, of which the horizon is an impermeable stratum in the karst, high above a valley’s bottom. Fresh moss grows on top of older cushions of moss. These were encrusted by calcium carbonate, chemically precipitated from the water. The Moss’ photosynthesis accelerates precipitation enormously. |
