Description

Juicy rumours by Erik Pevernagie, oil on canvas, 80 x100 cm x

Life can be generous, but leaves us with a trilemma: How can we reconcile three distinct features: 'I,' 'me' and the 'others.' Since the "I" entails what I want, the "me" what others expect of me and the "others" what others themselves want. The bridges between "individuality," "surroundings," and "otherness" can be abysmal and very often waiting to be restored.

The conversation often seems to become mere verbal performance and oral horseplay rather than fair-minded communication. . In place of reasonable discourse, many prefer to sell trivialities, chatter, and prattle or vend cut-price ideas.

Rumors and "Schadenfreude" are well-liked, and people adore gossips. They find tittle-tattle irresistible because chitchat is so appealing and mouth-watering. It uplifts and makes people feel better.

Gossips have a swift ripple effect, and once the ball is rolling, it kick-starts a flood of moral destruction. It spreads like an unstoppable virus, and "Schadenfreude" can then be thoroughly enjoyed.

Rumor hunters feel the need to make their topics juicy and alluring since the world out there is hungry and eagerly waiting for them.

We need not be paranoiac but let us follow our path, with consistency and common sense, and avoid being run over by the steamroller of social media through loose-tongued prattle and unthoughtful actions. We must be aware that loose lips sink ships.

Let us not get scooped up by gaslighting manipulators stealing our emotions and taking possession of our inner child to carry out their dark agenda. Let the light of our intuition guide us subtly and wisely along the path of trust and suspicion.
