Judas tree (Cercis siliquastrum) photographed in Wied Għollieqa.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The pink flowers of the Judas tree are a site to behold. This leguminous tree is so named because, according to legend, Judas Iscariot hanged himself on one of these trees because of the shame he felt after betraying Jesus Christ. The leaves of this tree are also broad and circular in shape, resembling the silver pieces Judas acquired from his betrayal.
