Description
Deutsch: Die an der Villa Simon in Hannover neu angebrachte Stadttafel Nummer 119, nun zweisprachig:

„Hier wohnte Joseph Berliner / 22. Aug. 1858 - 23. Mai 1938 / Unternehmer. Mit seinem Bruder Emil, dem Erfinder der Schallplatte, errichtete er 1898 in Hannover die erste Schallplattenfabrik der Welt. 1895-1938 lebte er hier mit Frau Therese (gest. 1934) und Tochter Klara. 1921-1938 war er Vorsitzender der Synagogengemeinde. Klara Berliner wurde enteignet und am 16.3.1943 deportiert. Sie kam im Ghetto Theresienstadt um. Die Villa Simon war 1860 für Obergerichtsanwalt Eduard Simon gebaut worden. Architekt war Heinrich Christian Tramm.“

„Joseph Berliner lived here. Entrepreneur. Together with his brother Emil,the inventor of the gramophone record, he established the world's first record factory in 1898. Chairman of the synagogue. He lived here with his wife Therese (d. 1934) an their daughter Klara from 1895-1938. Klara Berliner was deported on 16.3.1943. She died in the Ghetto Terezín. The Villa Simon was designed in 1860 by the architect Heinrich Christian Tramm for the lawyer Eduard Simon.“
