Summary[edit]

Description
Flag of Jordan
This is a photo of a monument in Jordan identified by the ID
ID JA-01. Jerash. Arch of Hadrian in a dark day. The emperor Hadrian made several visits to the eastern provinces of the empire. It was during one of these that he visited Gerasa (Jerash) in A.D. 129-130, probably spending several months here. On this occasion an arch was erected in his honor, and the city authorities had a commemorative inscription carved on its north side, which tells us the exact date of the monument's inauguration.
