Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Photo taken at the Norwegian Center for Holocaust and Minority Studies (Norwegian: HL-senteret) in Oslo, showing items from the permanent exhibition on antisemitism, the Holocaust, etc.:
  • Jolly Nigger Bank, a cast iron novelty money box/mechanical penny bank/toy bank/piggy bank, (replica of) American patent originally from 1882 or later, sculpted as a stereotypical black beggar/a racist, cartoonish, coon or blackface caricature with old Norwegian 2 øre- and 1 krone-coins in hand.
A similar historical money bank or collecting box is the Nickneger in German churches etc.
