Description
English: Full-length portrait of a man in uniform with carbine-length rifle and sword-style bayonet. Subject is wearing hat with French horn (designating infantry) and Company "K" insignia. "John. J. Weber late Co K. 2d Mo Vols. Infty copied from type Gift of Mrs. Elizabeth Grafe July 1929. taken at Runzi. Miss June 1862" (written on reverse side). John Weber enlisted at Gasconade City in Company K, 2nd Missouri Volunteer Infantry Regiment on Jun 22, 1861 when he was 26 years old. His unit was mustered into service at St. Louis the following September. He rose to the rank of Sergeant on May 15, 1864, but his unit was mustered out of service at St. Louis in September 1864 (digital soldier records).
