Summary[edit]
DescriptionJoe Klein at LBJ Library, September 14, 2011 (6150711335).jpg |
Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan are learning remarkable leadership skills that they are using when they return home, making them “The New Great Generation.” The accomplishments of these veterans are outlined in a recent cover story in TIME magazine written by Joe Klein. On September 14, 2011, Klein led a discussion with three veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars at the LBJ Library. Two of the veterans, Tommy Sowers and Seth Moulton, are profiled in the TIME story. Matt Pelak is with Team Rubicon, a veterans group also featured in Klein’s TIME report. These veterans talk about why they became soldiers, what serving their country has taught them, how their training has taught them to tackle problems, and how the leadership of young veterans can change this country.
