Description
English: Creator: Unidentified.

Location: Queensland.
Description: Jerry Palmos, dressed in a suit and hat, holds his baby son Denny. This was the home of Denny's grandparents, Mr and Mrs Donald McNeil.
Jerry Palmos (born 1905) came to Australia from Ithaca, Greece in 1921 at the age of 16. Originally settling in Sydney, he became a prawn fisherman, then moved to Brisbane where he met and married his wife, Elizabeth McNeil. Jerry Palmos' first shop was located on the corner of Lytton Road and Heidelberg Street at East Brisbane and was purchased by him in 1937. He went on to own other properties in Brisbane, including the Day Dawn Cafe in Queen Street, the South Pacific Cafe in Stanley Street, the High Hat in the Valley, the Black & White Milk Bar (cnr of Queen & Edward Street), and the Colony Club in Edward Street. In 1951, he bought The Palms Cafe and acquired the building where the Colony Club was situated in 1956.
