Signature of Danish explorer Jens Munk (1579-1628)

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Facsimile of explorer Jens Munk's signature at the end of a "farewell message" that he wrote in his journal on 4 June 1620 during his voyage in Hudson Bay, when he was in a desesperate situation and had few hopes of returning back home in Denmark, which he eventually did against all odds. The manuscript from which this signature is taken might actually be a later copy that Munk made himself back home when preparing the publication of his voyage account (Navigatio Septentrionalis, Copenhagen, 1624).
