Summary

[edit]
Description
English: During the 1830s there were several years of famine, resulting in several thousand deaths. Some of the landowners and powerholders decided to create a miniature version of the circuit of 88 temples surrounding the island of Shikoku that Buddhist pilgrims still visit today. This smaller version fits on a hilltop called Mt. Funayama to the northwest of Echizen city center and distant Mt. Hino on the horizon.
