Jacobite broadside - Memorial for Britons
Description
Broadside with four poems by J. Duick. Published according to Act of Parliament by Tho. Bakewell, against Birchin-lane, Cornhill. With woodcut of surrendering Highlanders. Broadsheet with a picture at top of men surrendering or bowing in allegiance to Duke of Cumberland, who is on horseback with soldiers and a part of a town and hills in background. Below that are two columns of verse, divided into 4 parts, entitled: "An Adress to Britons" from 10 September 1745; "On the Duke's going to Scotland" from 17 January 1745-6; "On the Duke's Victory over the Rebels" from 17 May 1746, "On the Duke's Triumphant Return" from 26 July 1746 With text at bottom: "Publish'd according to Act of Parliament by Tho. Bakewell, against Birchin-lane, Cornhill.
