Summary[edit]

Description
English: 3 World War I related cartoons cartoons by John T. McCutcheon, as published together in the Chicago Tribune, 16 October, 1918.

The top cartoon has Uncle Sam explaining to a citizen that it is better to voluntarily invest his money in Liberty Bonds than to have to pay higher taxes to finance the war.

The middle cartoon shows the "International Board of Health" boarding op a building labeled "The House of Hohenzollern" (Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany's dynasty) with a sign "CLOSED TO PREVENT SPREAD OF PAN GERMAN INFLUENCE PLAGUE".

The bottom cartoon shows figures representing Germany and Austria, pondering "Wonder what kind of Peace we can expect" as they see the tombs of millions killed in the war to the left, and to the east the grave of Tzar Nikolas, and dead figures with huge knives sticking from their chests labeled "Brest-Litovsk Peace" ([1]) and "Bucharest Peace" ([2]).
