Description
Deutsch: Richtung Westen, die beiden Wartehallen waren vorher Dienstgebäude mit Fahrkartenausgabe und geschlossenen sowie beheizten Warteräumen. Die Fka links in Richtung Dresden wurde schon vor der Einführung des S-Bahn-Betriebes 1974 aufgegeben, doch in Richtung Leipzig blieb sie wie auch die Bahnsteigsperre noch bis in die 1980er erhalten. Der Bahnsteigzugang wurde auf dieser Seite erst wenige Minuten vor jeder Fahrt geöffnet.
Der Haltepunkt liegt im Einschnitt von Machern, dessen Bau als erstes großes Erdbauwerk beim Eisenbahnbau in Deutschland schon am 1. März 1836 begonnen wurde.
