Summary[edit]

Description Dichelostemma volubile—snake lily. The species grows in a narrow band in the foothills on both sides of the Sacramento Valley. It extends southwards on the Sierra side to Kern County. Kat Anderson says that Pacific Railway surveys show that it was also once common in the valley itself where it no longer occurs. The name of snake lily comes from the twining habit where it wraps stems around itself and other plants. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
