Français : Cette carte de 1890 publiée par la compagnie de New York de Charles Scribner Fils montre l'Italie telle qu'elle apparaissait dans les décennies suivant son unification. En 1859-60, l'essentiel de l'Italie était unifié dans un nouveau Royaume d'Italie sous le règne du roi Victor Emmanuel II, auparavant souverain du Royaume de Sardaigne. La région du nord de la Vénétie, partie de l'Empire autrichien, fut annexée par le nouveau royaume en 1866. Rome (à l'exception de la Cité du Vatican), fut annexée en 1870. La note en haut à droite liste les États de l'Église qui furent dissous en 1860 pour aider à former le nouveau royaume. La carte est une réimpression d'un ouvrage de John Bartholomew & Son, un célèbre éditeur cartographique installé à Édimbourg, en Écosse, en 1826 par John Bartholomew, père. (1805-61). Son fils, John Bartholomew, (1831-93), travailla avec son père et comme assistant auprès du géographe allemand Augus Petermann avant de prendre la charge de l'entreprise en 1856. English: This 1890 map, published by the New York firm of Charles Scribner’s Sons, shows Italy as it appeared in the decades after its unification. In 1859-60, most of Italy was united in a new Kingdom of Italy under King Victor Emmanuel II, previously ruler of the Kingdom of Sardinia. The northeastern region of Venetia, part of the Austrian Empire, was annexed by the new kingdom in 1866. Rome (except for Vatican City) was annexed in 1870. The note at upper right lists the States of the Church that were dissolved in 1860 to help form the new kingdom. The map is a reprint of a work by John Bartholomew & Son, a famous cartographic publisher founded in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1826 by John Bartholomew, Sr. (1805-61). His son, John Bartholomew, Jr. (1831-93), worked with his father and as an assistant to the German geographer August Petermann before taking over the firm in 1856. He was succeeded by his own son, John George Bartholomew (1860-1920). Under these successive generations, the company established a reputation for the finest cartographic work in Britain.

Português: Este mapa, de 1890, publicado pela firma de Nova Iorque Charles Scrinbner's Sons , mostra a Itália tal como era nas décadas após sua unificação. Em 1859-60, grande parte da Itália foi unida sob a forma de um novo Reino da Itália sob o comando do rei Vitor Emanuel II, anteriormente governante do Reino da Sardenha. A região nordeste de Veneza, parte do Império Austríaco, foi anexada pelo novo reino em 1866. Roma (exceto a Cidade do Vaticano), foi anexada em 1870. A nota, no canto superior direito, enumera os Estados da Igreja que foram dissolvidos em 1860 para ajudar a formar o novo reino. O mapa é uma reedição de uma obra de John Bartholomew & Son, uma famosa editora cartográfica fundada 1826, em Edimburgo, na Escócia, por John Bartholomew, Sr. (1805-61).
